Leaving My Driveway

from Sea of Junk by Lily McKown

/

lyrics

This street has somehow survived
a blender cycle on high
and they push the button right in front of our eyes

Lately I've told our stories and punchlines
should have thrown my friend a lifeline
and when I ask she's doing fine
but thats code for a steady decline
and I forget to translate it sometimes

And my backyard is a time capsule
thats reached capacity
and my own back door is locked
like a kid on Halloween run up excited but the lights are off
so I guess it's time to walk

to another place
the future is a strangers face
and you're too afraid to say hello

Cause every party or reunion revolves around something your missing
something that you love
and it's the not the same as it once was
a sugar rush with razor blade cuts
but you show up just because
if you don't no one does

Death dissolves
we drink it till the pain is gone
a mixture of rain and sun
In solitary confinement you have won
so let's get this dinner done
and pray to god to be the next one

to another state
where you can't speak or operate
and your frozen cause your world has been sold

a flower pops
spring comes and departs
habits form
I trust my tarot cards
It's whatever I believe
It's an itch up my sleeve
It's a bunch of drunk stars
forming a picture of a car
leaving a driveway
leaving my driveway.
